This collection, a second in a series of short story anthologies centered in Philadelphia, rises to the standard set by the first Philly Fiction. A majority of the stories read well including a disturbing piece concerning a guy and his hoagie obsession. These stories bring the reader on a journey through Philadelphia neighborhoods and the characters who populate them.

The Summer of Dark Shadows by Liz Kerr reveals in stunning detail how war can disrupt normal family life, cause divisions especially when a sibling is in combat.

These writers bring us into the stories to witness homelessness and discrimination, complex family relationships and generational lines, mental illness, geographical discrimination and neglect. The volume is a fast read that will keep you turning the pages.

Philly Fiction 2 lets us know everything is not sunny in Philadelphia yet these writers allow a little sunshine into the caverns, hills and valleys of this city of neighborhoods. It is worth the read and the journey these writers take us on.

The Fox Chase Collective

The Fox Chase Review was founded in the summer of 2007 followed by The Fox Chase Reading Series.

. Our vision is to provide poets/ writers with a showcase for their work. The Review is published on line in order to provide a broad audience for the poets and writers we publish. We have attempted to provide the readers of The Fox Chase Review and those attending The Fox Chase Reading Series with a wide range of styles and schools of poetry as well as in presentation. The Review is published three times a year.

The Series and Review are guided by our staff. Diane Sahms-Guarnieri signed on as Poetry Editor in 2009. SR Moser has handled web design and editing since the inception and now serves as Fiction Editor. O.L. Barnes served as Fiction Editor in 2009-2011. Charles Loudon and Alfred Hayes contributed book reviews to the FCRS blog 2009-2011. Our current reviewers are Rodger Lowenthal who has contributed reviews since 2009 and Diane Sahms-Guarnieri our poetry editor. If you would like to submit a review for consideration please email foxchasereview@gmail.com

The poets and writers who contribute to the review and our staff are gracious in that the work is provided at no cost to the reader.

Admission to all Fox Chase Reading Series Events are free although we do encourage you to support our venues when visiting.

Submissions to the review are by invitation only at this time.
