A poetic review by Rodger Lowenthal
.
empty of course the curse
of loss refill to full
quite never rampant wordplay
a plea in the fields
of the Lord dialogues and monologues
come unmuddle the puzzles
puddle accept question
nothing wasted bones fat
with meat savory immaculate confection
every poem a tease of delicious precision
twisted diction
war positives? And negatives? words for empty
a forever search to understand
small answers words for full
dense clarity WHY VA Tech? Why? Why?
“any killing’s the beginning of all killing”
more empty less full
ironic questions poetry and pie charts
“fighting the impulse/to see the end
in everything” vs. simple momentary pleasure
words for full: disquieting comfort
words for empty: exemplary bleak challenges
a book of many delights
.
