My message to Senator Toomey ~
Update: On January 27th the appeal of Mohammad al-Ajami was heard in Qatar. A ruling on the appeal is expected on February 25, 2013. Until then, the poet remains in prison.
As a native Philadelphia poet, I am thankful for the freedom of speech in America. Unfortunately, Mohammad al-Ajami has suffered
imprisonment because of a poem that he has written.
Your assistance is requested in his release.
Thank you in advance for any help that you can lend him.
I would only hope that if I were him, someone would be willing to ask for help for me.
Sincerely yours,
Diane Sahms-Guarnieri, poet.
