Nathalie Anderson’s first book, Following Fred Astaire, won the 1998 Washington Prize from The Word Works, and her second, Crawlers, received the 2005 McGovern Prize from Ashland Poetry Press; her third, Quiver, is forthcoming from Penstroke Press; and a fourth, Stain, is under consideration by publishers.  Anderson’s poems have appeared in such journals as APR’s Philly Edition, Atlanta Review, Denver Quarterly, DoubleTake, Inkwell Magazine, Journal of Mythic Arts, Louisville Review, Natural Bridge, The New Yorker, Nimrod, North American Review, Paris Review, Prairie Schooner, The Recorder, Southern Poetry Review, and Spazio Humano.  Her work has been commissioned for the Ulster Museum’s collection of visual art and poetry titled A Conversation Piece; for the catalogue of the retrospective exhibition Sarah McEneany at the Institute of Contemporary Art of the University of Pennsylvania; and for the artist’s press book titled Ars Botanica published by Enid Mark of ELM Press. Her work appears in The Book of Irish American Poetry From the Eighteenth Century to the Present (Notre Dame), and her poems have twice been solicited for inclusion in The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror (St.Martin’s). She has authored libretti for three operas – The Black Swan; Sukey in the Dark; and an operatic version of Arthur Conan Doyle’s A Scandal in Bohemia – all in collaboration with the composer Thomas Whitman and Philadelphia’s Orchestra 2001.  A 1993 Pew Fellow, she serves currently as Poet in Residence at the Rosenbach Museum and Library, and she teaches at Swarthmore College, where she is a Professor in the Department of English Literature and directs the Program in Creative Writing.  You can read the poetry of Nathalie Anderson in The Fox Chase Review at this link: http://www.foxchasereview.org/10WS/AndersonN.html

Teresa Leo hails from the coal-mining region of northeastern Pennsylvania.  She moved to Philadelphia in 1988 to attend Temple University’s creative writing program and has lived in the Philadelphia area since then. She is a former columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Commentary Page, past Editor of Painted Bride Quarterly, and has served as Acting Director of the Kelly Writers House. She is the author of a book of poems, The Halo Rule, winner of the Elixir Press Editors’ Prize.  Her poems have appeared in The Fox Chase Review, The Schuylkill Valley Journal, Italian Americana, The American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, Poetry, and elsewhere.  She has received fellowships from the Pew Fellowships in the Arts, the Leeway Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.  She works at the University of Pennsylvania.  You can read the poetry of Teresa Leo in The Fox Chase Review at this link: http://www.foxchasereview.org/10SU/TeresaLeo.html

We are at work on our summer 2012 edition.  Research has been completed and we expect invitations to submit for consideration to be sent out the first week of February with a response deadline of March 30^th.

We are anticipating a release date the first week of June 2012.

We are pleased to have published the work of sixty poets and writers in our 3 issues of The Fox Chase Review  presented during 2011. Established and emerging artists fill the pages from various disciplines in the worlds of poetry and prose without geographic limitations. Five have been nominated for a Puschart Prize. The Winter/Spring 2012 edition will be released in January of 2012.

    The Fox Chase Reading Series sponsored eleven events in 2011 featuring twenty five poets and numerous open mic readers in Fox Chase at Ryerss Museum and Library, our two outdoor summer events and the book launch of  Images of Being by our poetry editor, Diane Sahms-Guarnieri. The Featured Poet Series moved to Ryerss in February 2011 and we are grateful to the support of the staff of Ryerss.

We look forward to 2012 anticipating the publishing of three editions of The Fox Chase Review and featuring sixteen poets at our reading series at Ryerss. The continued increase in readership of the review and attendance at our reading series continues to inspire us to bring you quality poetry and prose. We hope you continue to enjoy the review and come out to the reading series.

The Fox Chase Review

The Fox Chase Reading Series kicks off the 2012 season on January 29^th at 2pm with featured poets Mike Cohen and Anthony Buccino.  The reading will be held at Ryerss Museum and Library, 7370 Central Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. 19111. The featured poets will be followed by an open mic.

Mike Cohen has authored two collections of poetry, Poet’s Pilgrimage and For Reading Out Loud, both awaiting discovery and broad dissemination (perhaps posthumously). Mike’s work has appeared in the Schuylkill Valley Journal, Philadelphia Daily News, Mad Poets Review, and Poetry Forum Anthology. He has presented public readings in various bookstores, coffee shops, and libraries. Mike’s current project is Poetry Aloud And Alive program at the Big Blue Marble Book Store in West Mt.
