Joseph’s Pizza sits adjacent to its five star sister, Moonstruck, in the heart of Fox Chase. Although a pizza joint at heart, Joseph’s offers a limited menu of platters, sandwiches, salads and soups. This being said, if you are looking for a Philly steak sandwich search out Joe’s on Torresdale Ave. or Jims and Steve’s around Cottman and Bustelton.
The decor is retro, unchanged in decades. An ample seating area greets you on arrival by a small bar in front of the restaurant section. The booths permit you to dine in privacy for the most part with a scattering of tables down the main corridor of the restaurant with additional tables in the rear. Should you desire to look around there is a collection of old clocks on the walls and photographs documenting the history of Fox Chase.
Joseph’s runs daily specials on their signature platters and their regular menu permits you to get a great meal for under 10 bucks. On our last few visits we noticed a change in the wait staff, a nice blending of long time attentive staff with new staff learning the ropes. There appears to be a concerted effort to provide better service to customers. There is never a rush to get you out the door and an apparent design to allow time for you to enjoy your meal.
The signature platters include soup or salad and rolls. Salads are always more then ample. The soup of the day, if French Onion soup or Minestrone are always tasty. We recommend the platters at Joseph’s for two reasons; they are priced reasonably in this tough economy and are presented well.
We highly recommend the following platters:
Linguini with Clam sauce
Linguini with Marinara sauce and meatballs
The servings are large and there is always enough to box up and take home for lunch the next day. We would be remiss if we did not mention the great wraps at Joseph’s. They are fresh and fat with meat and veggies.
Like we said before if you are looking for a steak, find a steak shop. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced outstanding Italian offering, the Signature Platters at Joseph’s are for you.
