The Fox Chase Reading Series presents the 2nd Annual Poets on the Porch at Ryerss Museum and Library, 7370 Central Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. 19111.  Poets Dan Maguire, Lynn Levin, Ana Božičević , Amy King, Elizabeth Pallitto  join Fox Chase Poets Diane Sahms-Guarnieri and g emil reutter on the porch. Bring a porch chair and enjoy an afternoon of verse on the porch of the historic Ryerss Museum and Library.

Diane Sahms-Guarnieri was born, raised, and is still residing in Philadelphia.  Images of Being,
her first full-length collection, is slated for release in October 2011.  Her work has been published locally, nationally, and internationally in the small and electronic press. She is currently the Poetry Editor of The Fox Chase Review (2009 –present); served on the Editorial Board of Philadelphia Stories; found and facilitated the Center City Poets’ Workshop at Borders Bookstore, Philadelphia (2006-2011).  Diane has performed her poetry at venues in Philadelphia; Harrisburg; Southeastern Pennsylvania; Delaware; Cambridge, Massachusetts; and New York.  You can visit her at http://dianesahmsguarnieri.wordpress.com/

Amy King is the author of I’m the Man Who Loves You and Antidotes for an Alibi, both from Blazevox Books, The People Instruments (Pavement Saw Press), and most recently, Kiss Me With the Mouth of Your Country (Dusie Press). She edits the Poetics List, sponsored by The Electronic Poetry Center (SUNY-Buffalo/University of Pennsylvania), moderates the Women’s Poetry Listserv (WOMPO), and teaches English and Creative Writing at SUNY NassauCommunity College. Her poems have been nominated for several Pushcart Prizes, and she has been the recipient of a MacArthur Scholarship for Poetry. Amy King was also the 2007 Poet Laureate of the Blogosphere. Dan Maguire’s poetry has won prizes and awards and has appeared in numerous  anthologies and reviews. He has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes. Poets  Robert Bly and Gerald Stern have favorably reviewed his work. His latest  release titled Finding The Words is available from Plan B Press. Elizabeth Pallitto has just returned home from a year in Istanbul, Turkey, where she taught Creative Writing and Classical literature as a Visiting Professor at Kadir Has University.Elizabeth has translated the contemporary Turkish poet Murathan Mungan, the Iraqi exile Thea Laitef, and the historical figures Tommaso Campanella and Tullia d’Aragona (1510-1556). Other translations appear in anthologies: The Bread and the Rose: Neapolitan Poetry from the Sixteenth Century to the Present (NY:Legas, 2005) and A New Map. Migrant Poets in Italy, (L. A.: NewInteger, 2006), ed. Luigi Bonaffini. In 2007, she published the first English edition of the 1547 Rime of Tullia d’Aragona as Sweet Fire: Tullia  d’Aragona’s Poetry of Dialogue and Selected Prose (NY: George Braziller,2007). Elizabeth’s own poems have appeared in The North American Review, Litspeak, Foolscap, and the ArkAngel Review. Poet, writer, and translator Lynn Levin is the author of three collections of poems: Fair Creatures of an Hour (2009), a Next GenerationIndie Book Awards finalist in poetry; Imaginarium (2005), a finalist for ForeWord
Magazine’s  Book of the Year Award; and A Few Questions about Paradise (2000) – all published by Loonfeather Press. Lynn Levin’s poems, prose, andtranslations have appeared in Ploughshares, Boulevard,  Washington Square Review, Southwest Review, 5 A.M., Lilith, Michigan Quarterly Review,  Parthenon West Review, Verse Daily,and Garrison Keillor’s radio show The Writer’sAlmanac.

A former BucksCounty Poet Laureate and winner of Bucks County Community College’s RobertFraser Poetry Award, Lynn Levin has received grants from the Leeway Foundationand funding from the Pennsylvania Humanities Council  for her community-based teaching. Ana Božičević is a poet and translator. Her debut Stars of the Night Commute (Tarpaulin Sky Press) was a Lambda Literary Award Finalist. She is the Program Manager at the Center for the Humanities of

June 1st – The 10th Edition of The Fox Chase Review will be published on line

June 12th – The last 2nd Tuesdays Poetry  Open Mic until September at The Hop Angel Brauhaus.

June 26th
Philadelphia Poet Paul Siegell joins with NYC Poet Ocean Vuong for our Featured Poets Reading at Ryerss Museum and Library followed by an open mic.

July 16thPoets inthe Park returns to Lions Park in the heart of Fox Chase when Poets Thaddeus Rutkowski, Leonard Gontarek, Timothy Gager, Chad Parenteau  join Diane Sahms-Guarnieri and G Emil Reutter in the park for a magical evening of poetry.

July 31st – The Outlaws return to Ryerss Museum and Library when Poet David Blaine heads east into town from Michigan and Nathan Graziano heads south from New Hampshire. A great afternoon of poetry will follow their arrival followed by an open mic.

August 20thPoets onthe Porch returns to Ryerss Museum and Library when poets Dan Maguire, Lynn Levin, Amy King, Ana Božičević, Elizabeth Pallitto join Diane Sahms-Guarnieri and G Emil Reutter on the porch of the historic museum for a special afternoon of poetry in Fox Chase.
