2012 Year in Review

2012 was a good year here in Fox Chase. We published three editions of The Fox Chase Review publishing 43 poets and 9 prose writers. We continued to strive to offer diverse selections of poetry and prose to our readers. We encourage you to read the works of these artists at these links:

The Fox Chase Reading Series  partnered with Ryerss Museum and Library in Fox Chase to present eight events featuring 16 Poets in the second floor gallery of the museum.

Our Poetry Editor Diane Sahms-Guarnieri conducted 2 workshops in 2012. The Tenth Muse Poetry Workshop for the Delaware Literary Connection in April and for The Fox Chase Reading Series at The Hop Angel in November.

The Fox Chase Review and Reading Series Blog promotes our readings, poets, writers,  interviews, book reviews and general information of interest for our readers and the Fox Chase community.

Mancinelli and Lowenthal in Fox Chase October 30th

October 30th at 2pm – The Fox Chase Reading Series presents poets  Jim Mancinelli and Rodger Lowenthal at Ryerss Museum and Library, 7370 Central Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa.

Roger Lowenthal is a retired educator and poet who has performed his poetry in the Philadelphia area and New York. His poetry and book reviews have been published widely in the small press. Jim Mancinelli is a living, writing, working Philadelphian. His first chapbook, Primer, was self-published. His second chapbook, In Deep, was published by Plan B Press. His writing is informed by the spirit, the earth, the heavens, and the voices of his heritage. He hosts the Moveable Beats Poetry Series in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. Staples on September 25th

September 25th @2pm – The Fox Chase Reading Series presents the poetry of  Catherine Staples at Ryerss Museum and Library, 7370 Central Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. 19111. An open mic follows.

Catherine Staples grew up in Dover, Massachusetts and still spends part of each summer on Cape Cod. Her poems have appeared in Blackbird, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, Third Coast, Valparaiso, Commonweal, The Michigan Quarterly Review, and others. She was selected by Amy Clampitt for the University of Pennsylvania’s William Carlos Williams Award, is the recipient of two APR Distinguished Poets’ Residencies, and The New England Poetry Club’s Boyle/ Farber Award. Her  manuscript has been a finalist for Utah State University’s May Swenson Poetry Award, Lost Horse’s Idaho Prize, Northeastern’s Morse, Eastern Washington University’s Spokane, and Ohio State University’s The Journal Award. She teaches in the Honors program at Villanova University and lives in Devon, PA with her husband and children.

Betsy Sholl selected her chapbook as the co-winner of Seven Kitchens Press’ 2010 Keystone Prize. Never a Note Forfeit is dedicated to her beloved brother, Paul Calello, released May 21, 2011.
