2nd Tuesdays Poetry Open Mic will be on hiatus for the rest of 2010

CELEBRATE NATIONAL POETRY MONTH IN FOX CHASE

April 13th– 7pm.

2nd Tuesdays Poetry Open Mic at The Red Rooster Inn , 7960 Dungan Road, Philadelphia, Pa. 19111. The Fox Chase Reading Series presents this popular event hosted by Diane Sahms Guarnieri. Come and join us for open mic poetry, good food and a great venue!

Featured Poets Reading at 3 Sisters Corner Café, 7950 Oxford Ave., Philadelphia, Pa. 19111. The Fox Chase Reading Series presents Featured Poets Leonard Gontarek and Amy Small-McKinney followed by an open mic.

Leonard Gontarek is the author of four books of poems: St. Genevieve Watching Over Paris, Van Morrison Can’t Find His Feet, Zen For Beginners, and Déjà Vu Diner (Autumn House Press, 2006). His poems have appeared in American Poetry Review, Fence, Field, Pool, Volt, The Quarterly, Exquisite Corpse, Hanging Loose, Poetry Northwest, Blackbird and The Best American Poetry (Paul Muldoon, editor). His poems also appear in the anthologies Joyful Noise! American Spiritual Poetry and The Working Poet. He has been nominated five times for the Pushcart Prize, and twice received poetry fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. He conducts poetry workshops at The University City Arts League, Moonstone Art Center, The Kelly Writers House and in the Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership. .Amy Small-McKinney’s second chapbook, Clear Moon, Frost, is now available from Finishing Line Press. Her first chapbook, Body of Surrender (Finishing Line 2004), was showcased at Poet’s House in New York. She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2004 and again in 2006. Her work has appeared in various journals, including Wild River Review, The Cortland Review, ForPoetry, Elixir Press, Mad Poets Review, upstreet, The Pedestal Magazine, and Blue Fifth Review. She was guest editor for the June 2006 issue of The Pedestal Magazine. Her poem, “Nigeria 2002,” was awarded third place in the 2007 Philadelphia Eco Poetry Project. Her Cockapoo, Willie, is working on second novel, Grrrs of Wrath. We have taken the rest of August off but September is right around the corner.

 

The Autumn/Winter 2009 edition of The Fox Chase Review will be released in early September full of poetry we are sure you will enjoy.

Please join us for the “2nd Tuesdays Poetry Open Mic” at The Blue Ox Bistro located at Rhawn St. and Oxford Ave in the Fox Chase Section of Philadelphia. Transportation: Our venues are located one block from the Septa Fox Chase Station. The station is 15 minutes from Market East Station via the R-8 in Center City. If you take the R-8 to “2nd Tuesdays Poetry Open Mic” save your receipt- The Blue Ox Bistro will pay your fare!  The Fox Chase Bus Loop also services the 18 and 24. There is free parking behind the Bistro.
